What is the process after being issued a citation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor in California?
Q. My son invited some friends over and it quickly got out of hand. Random people showed up in a matter of minutes toting alcohol which was shared to underage drinkers (<21). An unknown boy, age 17, was left behind and was very drunk. The police showed up and issued us a citation for being the homeowners. What happens next?

A. You will go to court on the date specified on the citation. If you have the funds to hire counsel, you should appear with counsel. If you do not, you should ask to have counsel appointed. You should discuss this matter completely with your attorney, and follow the advice of counsel.

What are the benefits and risks of investing in a mutual fund issued by an insurance company?
Q. There have been a lot of issues in the news these days regarding the trustworthiness of insurance companies. Are these instruments regulated by the government? A. You answered your own question, though you may not have realized it. Most institutions pay salespeople a commission to push off certain products. These products are usually of no benefit to you. If you are interested, you want a no load, no commission mutual fund. In my opinion, a great place for this investment is www.vanguard.com You pay a percentage of the money you make each year. For example, if your mutual fund portfolio is 10,000 they take about .25% of that, or twenty five dollars. Sorry that your aunt is trying to take advantage of you, but you need to tell her that you don't want to buy anything from a family member. Can I cash a government check that was issued in a different state?
Q. It is a government issued check for North Carolina.. I just moved to Oklahoma and I don't have a bank account but I need to cash this check? Will I be able to cash it at a convenience store or maybe a check cashing place?

A. Sure you can, and if you have family you cn take it to a bank and have them cash it with NO fees.. A check cashing place will take out a stiff fee...
