An author (sometimes, in reference to a woman author, authress or authoress) is broadly defined as "the person who originates or gives existence to anything" and that authorship determines responsibility for what is created. Narrowly defined, an author is the originator of any written work.

A. Hillary Clinton has either sponsored or cosponsored 150 bills. She sits on 5 Senate Committees. John McCain has either sponsored or cosponsored 37 bills. he sits on 4 senate committees. Barrack Obama sits on 4 committees and sponsored or cosponsored 100 bills. I used the Library of Congress for my source.

How to cite an author in a book authored by many people?
Q. I am working on an essay and I want to quote a few sentences from a book of speeches presented at an event. Each speech has their own individual author. How can I properly display this source in MLA format in my bibliography?

A. Sorry, I don't know what MLA stands for, so don't know their particular format ... but a reasonable approximation would seem to be, first to credit the author in just the same way as you would if the quotation were from his own book (for example, "King, Martin L., 'I Have A Dream'"); and then second, within the same citation, the word, "in," followed by the name of the editor of the book containing the speeches, and the book's title, somewhat along these lines ... Example citation: King, Martin L., "I Have A Dream," in Jones, Milton A., ed., Famous American Speeches, New York: Random House, 1975. Naturally, you would adjust that to comply with as much of the MLA format you're familiar with; but it would have to be more or less like… [cont.]

How do you do an APA format in-text citation of a document on a website that is authored by an organization?
Q. I need to do an in-text reference to a document found on a website. All the information that I have is: title of the document, name of website (which also is the author of the document), url, and date retrieved. Please help!!! Thank you!
